Usually, attorneys work on an hourly rate and so every phone call and every e-mail costs your business money. This makes your monthly expenses very uncertain!
Some companies work around this problem by hiring a fulltime in-house legal department at a fixed salary cost. But, this is also expensive and probably overkill for some businesses. To meet this need, Underhill Law has developed an option similar to in-house counsel, but cheaper, for business owners who do not need a full time staff attorney but still want an attorney on call

The Underhill LegalPlan is designed to help the closely held business who wants legal support on common issues without the cost of full-time in house counsel. The LegalPlan is a one-year commitment by your business and the firm.
You pay a fixed monthly price by credit card or ACH during the year. In return, the firm holds itself available to perform legal services within the LegalPlan Edition you select up to a maximum number of hours per month also defined by that Plan. The firm will work with you on balancing the workload month to month, establishing your priorities and the deadlines to fairly deliver the work you need throughout the year. For work outside of the LegalPlan, LegalPlan clients receive a discounted hourly rate for other work.

All LegalPlans include the ability to call or meet with counsel to get legal advice on your business problems. For questions in our core practice areas, we may be able to offer you and your management guidance right away. If we can’t tell you the answer right away and the question is within your plan scope, the firm will research the issue and tell you the answer promptly without charging you an additional hourly rate.
