Independent Contractor Misclassification
When: Thursday, December 29, 2022 2:00 p.m. - 4 p.m.
LOCATION: Castlewood Library 6739 South Unita Street Meeting Room A Greenwood Village, Colorado
Attend this Workshop if Your Business:
- Uses independent contractors as part of its business;
- Is concerned about audits by the state or federal government; or
- Wants to decide what kind of workers to use.
Many businesses prefer to use independent contractors instead of employees. This can have economic advantages for both the company and the worker. But, it also comes with certain limitations. If your company does not respect those limitations, it may be vulnerable to an audit by the colorado or federal departments of labor or similar action that claims the independent contractors were actually misclassified employees. This can lead to penalties, increased taxes, and liability to the worker.
Please join underhill law, P.C. For a free workshop to discuss the difference between independent contractors and employees. This has traditionally been the firm’s most popular workshop. We will cover the difference between workers and independent contractors, the potential risks of misclassification, and the things your business may consider doing to ensure it is well-prepared to defend itself against that threat.
